Periods. Growing up.
All the stuff we still whisper about.
LET'S STOP THE WHISPERING.
Unfilter Her creates unapologetic, creative spaces for girls aged 12-17 to talk about periods without the awkwardness, learn, ask the questions they’re afraid to ask anywhere else, share what’s really on their minds and connect with one another.
No shame. No judgement. No shrinking.
WHY UNFILTER HER EXISTS
Unfilter Her grew from understanding what it feels like to question your voice, doubt yourself or feel like you’re somehow “too much.”
Girls still get the message that they should be quieter, smaller, easier. And periods? We’re still whispering about them. Hiding pads up our sleeves. Feeling embarrassed to ask completely normal questions. Wondering if what’s happening to our bodies, moods and emotions is normal, while pretending we’re totally fine.
Unfilter Her is here to change that.
Through honest conversations, creative activities and writing, girls get to learn about their periods and menstrual cycles, ask the questions they’re afraid to ask anywhere else, share what’s really on their minds and connect with one another without having to filter themselves.
NO AWKWARD LECTURES. NO PRETENDING. NO QUESTION TOO EMBARRASSING.
Just real answers, real support and space to figure it all out.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Because periods are normal. The questions are normal. The emotions, confusion and awkward bits are normal too.
Girls deserve more than whispered conversations and a rushed explanation of what a period is. They deserve to understand their bodies, know what’s happening and have somewhere they can actually talk about it.
And when girls are given the space to speak, ask, learn and be heard, something bigger happens too: they learn that their voices deserve to take up space.
Because girls who feel heard grow into women who do not shrink.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Every Unfilter Her space is built around four things:
A SPACE THAT FEELS SAFE TO BE YOURSELF
Girls are listened to, respected and taken seriously from the moment they walk in.
NO JUDGEMENT, PRESSURE OR EXPECTATION TO SHARE
Girls choose how they take part. They can speak, listen, create or simply take things in at their own pace.
REAL ANSWERS TO REAL QUESTIONS
Nothing is too awkward or embarrassing to ask. Girls get honest, age-appropriate information without things being brushed off or sugar-coated.
CREATIVITY MAKES SPACE FOR CONVERSATION
Creative activities and writing give girls different ways to explore, express themselves and connect, without everything having to start with talking.
You don’t need to know what to say, have the right questions or feel ready to share. Just come as you are.

MENSTRUAL WELLNESS WORKSHOPS
Cambridge City Council · 2025

In partnership with Cambridge City Council, this workshop brought together asylum-seeking and refugee women and girls through creative activities and open discussion around menstrual health, emotions and self-expression. The workshop created a safe, non-judgemental space for connection, storytelling and shared experiences.

ONLINE TEEN WORKSHOP
2024
Girls came together online to talk openly about periods, ask questions and explore their experiences through conversation, creative activities and plenty of laughs, including creating their very own period theme tune.

Workshops designed for teen girls aged 12–17, available for schools, youth groups, community organisations and wellbeing programmes.
Sessions can be delivered in person or online and adapted to different group sizes.
The biggest takeaway? Realising they weren’t the only ones thinking, feeling or experiencing these things.
Inside Teen Period Workshops
Periods come with a lot of questions, and some are definitely easier to ask than others.
We talk about the stuff girls actually want to know. Different period products and how they work, cramps and what might help, cravings, sleep, hormones, moods, hygiene, leaks, discharge and all the other things that don’t always get talked about properly.
We mix that with creative activities, writing, conversation and plenty of room to laugh, vent, ask questions and share experiences.
Nothing is TMI. Nothing is “gross”. And nobody has to pretend they’ve got it all figured out.
BRING YOUR QUESTIONS. SHARE YOUR STORIES. OR JUST LISTEN.
You don’t need to know anything before you walk through the door.
There’s no judgement here.
Workshops are also available for schools, youth groups and community organisations.
